Sister to Sister (STS)

Website: www.sistertosister.org

The Sister to Sister Foundation was established in 1999 to prevent heart disease in women through cardiovascular screenings, education and behavioral change. As a life-saving resource for women, Sister to Sister has provided more than 80,000 free heart health screenings and counseling interventions at heart-health fairs across the country.

Sister to Sister (STS) will participate in the Million Hearts™ initiative by educating its community on the importance of aspirin adherence, blood pressure control, cholesterol management, and smoking cessation as part of living a heart-healthy lifestyle. We will incorporate this messaging through our website www.sistertosister.org, heart-health screening events, educational outreach and social media pages and events.

STS is committed to preventing heart disease through a new online wellness program, Smart for the Heart. Developed in partnership with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Smart for the Heart offers a comprehensive Health Risk Assessment (HRA), a series of questions that will help you calculate your risk for heart disease. Participants will receive immediate recommendations for lifestyle changes based on the findings. Smart for the Heart provides online workshops, a wealth of patient-friendly health content, and delivers individual follow-ups to users from experts via email, who can provide them with ongoing support as they seek to achieve the plan’s tailor-made goals.
